Locating the Late Game Cave Entrance
Finding the correct cavern requires you to travel to the northeastern region of the island map. The entrance is situated just north of a small circular lake and sits northeast of the snowy mountain range. Unlike other distinct landmarks, this entrance is a simple hole in the ground surrounded by natural rock formations.
Before embarking on this expedition, players must ensure they have already added the Rebreather to their inventory. This specific diving apparatus is mandatory because major sections of the cave are completely flooded. Once you locate the rocky opening, interact with the rope to descend into the darkness below.
Navigating the Subterranean Tunnels
After reaching the bottom of the rope, follow the singular path forward until you spot a small waterfall on your left. You will need to follow the running water to the right and drop down into a lower chamber. Nearby supplies like an Air Tank and a Backpack can be gathered before you proceed into the deep water pool.
Equip your Rebreather and dive into the water to navigate the narrow submerged passageways safely. Swim past the underwater obstacles until you emerge on the other side of the flooded tunnel network. From there, climb the steep rocks and crouch under the low ceilings to reach the next major checkpoint.
Breaking Barriers and Slipping Downstream
The path ahead will eventually be blocked by wooden planks that you must destroy using your tactical axe. Smashing these boards opens the way forward where you can discover unique blueprints and extra resources. After inspecting the immediate area, move opposite the blocked doorway to find a fast-flowing stream.
Jumping into this current will cause your character to slide down a steep slope directly into another deep pool. You must perform another short underwater swim through a tight tunnel to reach the final section. Be highly alert upon emerging, as hostile mutants frequently patrol these glowing chambers.
Claiming the Tool and Exiting Safely
Follow the faint light source filtering into the cavern until you spot a massive vein of gleaming Solafite Ore. The coveted pickaxe is found stuck directly into the center of this golden mineral wall. Simply approach the formation and interact with the tool to add it to your permanent inventory.
This valuable instrument allows you to mine Solafite deposits and navigate the final frozen zones of the game. To exit the area, look for a nearby path that leads down a slope toward a climbing rope. Ascend the final ropes to emerge back into the open world with your new gear secured.
